West Virginia Ski Program

Working hand-in-hand with the WV School for the Deaf and Blind in Romney, WV, the Ski Program actively helps Romney School students to experience life outside their norm.

Supported by Volunteers and donations from WV Lions Clubs, the Ski Program took 101 Romney Deaf and Blind students skiing at Timberline in February this year.

-Zeke, 14, 1st time blind skier who braved the slopes 3 times

The Program has grown to include more activities.

  • Multi-handicapped students went to Wheeling for music theater & pizza with the Wheeling Leos

  • Some girls were treated to a Saturday of shopping & pizza

  • 55 Students camped overnight, enjoying fireside chats at Camp Wapocoma

  • Plus: bowling; horse back riding; golf on both a course and putt-putt; fishing on a private pond, getting to keep and cook fish over 6"; movie outings; ice-skating in Cumberland; WVU football game.
