Judge Haynes TownsendKembra L. Smith from Decatur, Georgia, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 97th International Convention held in Toronto, Canada, July 4 through 8, 2014.

Director Smith is a lawyer. A member of the Decatur North Decatur Lions Club since 1997, she has held many offices within the association, including district governor, zone chairperson, council chairperson, district LCIF chairperson, multiple district MERL coordinator, district and multiple district GLT coordinator, district convention chairperson and CEP facilitator. Director Smith is also the chairperson for the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation and a certified guiding Lion.

In recognition of her service to the association, she has received numerous awards, including four Contributing Membership Bronze Awards, the Member Key Award and an International President’s Award. She is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to her Lions activities, Director Smith is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association, the American Bar Association’s Appellate Judges Conference (“AJC”), Council of Appellate Lawyers and the Federal Bar Association. She previously served as president of the AJC’s Appellate Staff Attorneys.
